Advair Diskus Inhaler treats and prevents wheezing and shortness of breath brought on by chronic lung conditions including asthma (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease-COPD, which includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema). Fluticasone and salmeterol are two of the drugs it contains.
Fluticasone is a member of the corticosteroid medication subclass. It lessens airway inflammation and edema, which is how it works. The group of medicines known as long-acting beta-agonists includes salmeterol. It loosens the muscles that surround the airways, allowing them to open and facilitating easier breathing.
