Albendazole 400mg Tablet is used to treat parasitic infections caused by tapeworms. It reduces the energy sources of the parasite and eventually leads to their death. This medication takes two to five hours after its intake to visibly work in the body.  The sugar and the nutrients of the parasites are reduced and help in killing them. 

WAY OF ADMINISTRATION:

Adults under 60 kg: Your doctor will select the dose based on your body weight. The normal dosage is divided into two doses and taken with meals for 28 days at a rate of 15 mg per kilogram of body weight daily. After then, there are three cycles of not taking albendazole for a total of 14 days.

  • For neurocysticercosis: 

Adults and children weighing 60 kilograms (kg) or more—The doctor will adjust the dosage based on your body weight. The dosage is 400 mg taken twice daily with meals for 8 to 30 days.

Adults and children weighing less than 60 kg: Your doctor will determine the dosage based on your body weight. Typically, for 8 to 30 days, the dose is 15 mg per kilogram of body weight divided into two doses daily.

WARNINGS/PRECAUTIONS:

  1. The doctor is aware of all the patients medical problems like kidney and liver problems.
  2. Adverse side effects of combining Albendazole 400mg Tablet with other medicines exist. Book an appointment with the doctor if these side effects occur.
  3. Albenza may interact with several drugs, such as theophylline, cimetidine, dexamethasone, praziquantel, and antibiotics. Any medicine taken is disclosed to your doctor.
  4. Albenza should only be taken during pregnancy if it has been prescribed. A fetus is harmed. Before beginning this drug, women of reproductive age should have a negative pregnancy test. Inform your doctor immediately if you find out you are pregnant. Men and women are advised to use two reliable methods of birth control (such as condoms and birth control tablets) while taking Albenza and for one month after quitting the drug. If Albenza crosses into breast milk is unknown. Before breastfeeding, speak with your doctor.
