Diclofenac Sodium Topical Gel is a topical, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory gel used to treat pain and inflammation of the muscle, joints, tendons, soft tissues, rheumatism, and sports injuries. Diclofenac plays an important role in relieving pain and swelling. This emulgel penetrates quickly into the skin and delivers diclofenac to the active site.

WAY OF APPLICATION :

Apply Diclofenac sodium topical gel externally on the inflamed area, and rub the gel gently. No need to massage over the treated area. Apply twice or thrice a day. The quantity depends upon the inflamed area. Clean your hands after application unless you are used to treating hands. Wait at least 10 min before covering the applied area.

SIDE EFFECTS OF DICLOFENAC SODIUM:

Generally, it gives side effects like rashes, redness, heat sensitivity, and itching. These side effects may last for a short duration. When you stop using it, it will disappear.

It may cause a slight change in blood pressure so keep your eye on blood pressure count.

If you have any allergy to diclofenac or any other ingredient used in gel then, discuss it with your doctor as it may affect serious conditions.

Some people may also experience the following side effects:

  • Swelling of ankle
  • Tiredness
  • Sudden weight gain

WARNINGS/PRECAUTIONS:

Diclofenac gel is for external use only. Do not swallow it or apply it on the wound.

Do not wash the treated body part at least for one hour. Otherwise, it will not show any effect.

Do not wrap, cover, or apply heat to the inflamed part.

Before using Diclofenac sodium topical gel discuss with your physician if you have any medical history of liver diseases, heart disease, blood pressure stroke,   

This medicine may cause stomach bleeding as daily use of alcohol and tobacco with this medicine leads to internal stomach bleeding. Consult with your doctor before treatment.

Pregnant women should avoid this medicine from 20 weeks until delivery.

Breastfeeding mothers should not use this medicine.

DICLOFENAC DRUG INTERACTION:

Diclofenac gel may interact with the following drugs:

  • Aliskiren
  • Ach inhibitors
  • Angiotensin II receptor blockers
  • Cidofovir
  • Corticosteroid
  • Antiplatelet drugs
