When used to treat seasonal and year-round allergic and non-allergic nasal symptoms, such as a stuffy or runny nose, itchiness and sneezing, fluticasone can be very effective. It can also help to alleviate allergy eye symptoms such as itchy, watery eyes and redness in the eyes. This medication is a corticosteroid, which is a type of medication that is commonly prescribed. When it is inhaled, it works in your nose to block the effects of allergens (such as pollen, pet dander, dust mites, mould, and dust mite dander) while also reducing swelling.

Flonase Allergy Relief Nasal Spray is used for reducing the congestion of the nasal pathway, watery eyes caused by year long and seasonal allergies. Mould, dust, pet danders could be some things that are responsible for allergies. Pollen allergy is also a common condition that occurs.  

How is it administered?

The effective dose of Flonase would depend on the necessity during a spell. Some patients require this medicine twice a day and only 1 spray in each nostril. 

The other variation for adults would include having 2 sprays in both nostrils one time a day. 

Children- They have different requirements and care must be taken when using the spray. 1 spray in both nostrils and only once a day.  

Side Effects of Flonase Nasal Spray:

Side Effects of Flonase Allergy Relief Nasal Spray include the below:

  1. Nausea
  2. Vomiting
  3. Cough
  4. White patches inside or around the nose
  5. Burning sensation
  6. Dizziness

Dosage of Flonase Nasal Spray:

For the two dosage option, it is advised to keep the same time in the morning and evening. Eg. 7am and 7pm. 

The adult dose is 2 sprays of 50 mcg in each nostril one time in a day. If it is taken two times in a day, then only 1 spray in both nostrils is enough. 

A total daily dose of 100 mcg is recommended for adolescents and children. This amounts to 1 spray in each nostril one time a day.

Warning:

Flonase may lead to a decrease in the bone mineral density when taken for long stretches of time. This could further lead to osteoporosis ( bone weakening). Speak to the doctor in this case. 

Even the mildest discomfort should be mentioned to the physician so that you are ensured better treatment for the illness you have. 

Difficulty in reading, vision impairments should be notified to the doctor. 

Using Flonase for a long time could lead to issues with the adrenal gland in our body.
