Ropinirole 2 mg Tablet is used to treat Parkinson’s disease symptoms (stiffness, tremors, muscle spasms, and poor muscle control). It also treats restless legs syndrome (RLS). 

A naturally occurring substance in your body called dopamine has some of the same effects as ropinirole. Parkinson’s disease is connected to low levels of dopamine in the brain.

Parkinson’s symptoms with RLS can only be treated with immediate-release ropinirole (Requip). Only Parkinson’s symptoms are approved for treatment with extended-release ropinirole (Requip XL).

WAY OF ADMINISTRATION:

Administer Ropinirole 2 mg Tablet by mouth thrice daily. It is taken with food. The doctor explains the dosing and administration instructions to the patient. One should not consume more than directed by the doctor. It could be detrimental to health. 

SIDE EFFECTS ROPINIROLE 2 MG TABLET:

For restless legs syndrome in adults:

It is taken 1 to 3 hours before bedtime at first, 0.25 milligrams (mg) once daily.  The dose is limited to 4 mg daily.

WARNINGS/PRECAUTIONS:

  1. Inform your doctor if you’ve ever struggled to resist the urge to gamble, experience unexpected daytime sleepiness, suffer from a sleep disorder other than restless legs syndrome, have high or low blood pressure, have a psychotic disorder (a mental illness that results in abnormal thinking or perceptions), or have heart, liver, or kidney disease.
  2. Adverse side effects of combining Ropinirole 2 mg Tablet with other medicines exist. Book an appointment with the doctor if these side effects occur.
  3. If you use tobacco products, let your doctor know. Call your doctor if you start or stop smoking while taking ropinirole. Smoking may make this drug less effective.
  4. This medicine makes one drowsy, so refrain from doing heavy-duty work. 
  5. Ropinirole has been linked to the thickening or scarring of abdominal tissues, including the lungs and heart. Contact your doctor if you have any breathing issues or chest pain.
